Exa Search

Exa is a search engine built specifically for AI. Unlike traditional keyword search, Exa understands meaning and returns high-quality, semantically relevant results.

What You Can Do

  • Search the web with semantic understanding
  • Find papers, articles, and web pages by topic
  • Retrieve full page contents for deep analysis
  • Search by similarity to a URL or document
  • Find recent content with date filters

Example Commands

"Find research papers on large language model reasoning"

"Search for SaaS onboarding best practices"

"Find blogs similar to paulgraham.com"

"What are the most recent articles about AI agents?"

How It Works

When you ask Clawly to search:

  1. Semantic query — Exa converts your question into a semantic search
  2. Neural matching — Finds pages that truly match the meaning, not just keywords
  3. Content retrieval — Can fetch full page content, not just snippets
  4. Ranked results — Returns highest-relevance matches first

Tips

  • Use full questions — Exa handles natural language better than keyword strings
  • Request full content — Ask Clawly to "read the article" for deeper summaries
  • Date filtering — Specify "recent" or a date range for timely results
  • Similarity search — Give a URL and ask for "similar pages" to find related content

Pricing

Exa offers pay-per-use pricing:

  • Search — Starting at $0.005 per query
  • Contents — Additional cost for full page retrieval
  • Free credits available on signup
